Ungrounding Viking 62 on the ICW

Grounding in unfamiliar waters can happen to anyone as the captain of this 62’ Viking sportfisher discovered on his first visit to Haulover Inlet, but Fast Response was quickly on the scene to help out.

“The captain was going to just wait for the incoming tide,” says Capt. David, “but we advised him against that to avoid any further damage to the hull or to avoid drifting onto nearby rocks.”

The vessel went aground on the west side of the ICW, but Fast Response was able to get the boat and passengers on their way in less than 15 minutes so they could enjoy their day at Haulover sandbar.

“Personally, I loved this boat and it hurt to see it aground,” says Capt. David. “ I was really proud to safely complete the ungrounding operation and watch it motor away!”
